Description
The Seiko SSB453P1 is a 40mm quartz chronograph with a blue dial, set in a stainless steel case and carried on a matching stainless steel bracelet.
Case & crystal
The round case is stainless steel, 40mm across and 11.5mm thick, and it is topped by a fixed stainless steel bezel. The bracelet is also stainless steel, so case, bezel and band read as one continuous surface. A sapphire crystal covers the dial, giving a hard, scratch-resistant window over the chronograph layout.
Dial
The blue dial carries a horizontal ribbed texture that catches the light in fine lines. Applied indices mark the hours, and both the hands and indices are luminous for reading in low light. Silver sub-dials contrast against the blue, and chronograph text sits on the dial face.
Movement
Inside is Seiko calibre 8T63, a quartz movement. It drives the chronograph, the date and small seconds, so the watch handles timing and everyday date-keeping without winding.
Bracelet & fit
The stainless steel bracelet closes with a three-fold clasp with push-button release. The clasp opens and fastens securely, and it makes the watch easy to put on and take off.

Supplied with the 3-year international Seiko warranty, valid when purchased from an authorised retailer and registered at purchase through Cassims & Co. The warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship; it does not cover normal wear, batteries, straps, glass, or damage from misuse or water ingress through an unscrewed crown.
Our watch service centre in Johannesburg handles warranty work, batteries, bracelet sizing and servicing.
Care guide
- Wipe the stainless steel case and bracelet with a soft, slightly damp cloth after wear to remove skin oils and dust.
- Rinse the watch in fresh water after swimming, and keep it away from soaps and solvents to protect the 100 metre water resistance.
- Avoid pressing the chronograph pushers underwater, and avoid knocks against hard surfaces.
- The sapphire crystal resists scratches, but a hard impact can still damage it, so take care around hard edges.
- Have the watch checked periodically through watch servicing and repairs, including its water resistance.
