Description
Seiko's 5 Sports line grew out of the original Seiko 5 idea of a robust automatic for daily use, and the SRPL83K1 carries that lineage forward with the 4R36 automatic calibre, a 42.5mm round case, a blue sunburst dial and a stainless steel bracelet. It sits within our range of Seiko watches.
Case & crystal
The round case is stainless steel, measuring 42.5mm across and 13.9mm thick, and the bracelet is also stainless steel, so case and band match. A Hardlex crystal protects the dial. A blue unidirectional rotating 60-minute bezel frames it, useful for timing elapsed minutes.
Dial
The blue dial has a sunburst finish that shifts from deep navy to brighter blue as the light moves across it. Luminous hands and markers keep the time legible in low light. A red "Automatic" script and the Seiko 5 logo sit on the dial, and a Day-Date display shows the weekday and date.
Movement
Inside is the automatic Seiko 4R36 calibre, powered by the motion of your wrist rather than a battery. Once fully wound it holds a power reserve of 41 hours, so it will keep running through a day or so off the wrist. Regular care from a specialist is advised, and we offer watch servicing and repairs for automatic movements.
Bracelet & fit
The stainless steel bracelet continues the case finish and gives the watch a solid, balanced feel. Sizing is best done in person so the links sit comfortably on your wrist, and our team can advise on this at the showroom.

At 42.5mm in diameter and 13.9mm thick, this watch has a confident wrist presence and suits average to larger men's wrists best. Water resistance

Warranty
Supplied with the 3-year international Seiko warranty, valid when purchased from an authorised retailer and registered at purchase through Cassims & Co. The warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship; it does not cover normal wear, batteries, straps, glass, or damage from misuse or water ingress through an unscrewed crown.
Our watch service centre in Johannesburg handles warranty work, batteries, bracelet sizing and servicing.
Care guide
- Wear the watch regularly, or rest it on a watch winder, to keep the automatic 4R36 movement running. A full wind gives a 41-hour power reserve.
- Rinse the stainless steel case and bracelet with fresh water after swimming, then dry with a soft cloth.
- Keep the watch away from hot water, saunas and steam, even though it is water resistant to 100 metres.
- Wipe the Hardlex crystal with a clean microfibre cloth and avoid knocks against hard surfaces.
- Use the unidirectional bezel gently and clean around it with a soft brush to clear any grit.
