Description
Casio's G-SQUAD line grew out of the G-SHOCK tradition of tough, purpose-built digital watches, and the GBD 100SM-4A1 carries that lineage forward as a round digital watch with a memory-in-pixel display and a resin strap.
Case & crystal
The round case is made of resin and measures 17 mm thick. The band is also resin, so case and strap share the same material and the watch reads as one continuous, light-bodied unit. A translucent red resin bezel frames the display and gives the case profile its colour.
Dial
Instead of hands and indices, the GBD 100SM-4A1 uses a memory-in-pixel (MIP) display. A monthly running distance bar graph sits within the readout, and the Super Illuminator LED backlight lights the display in the dark. The translucent red bezel sets off the screen.
Movement
This is a digital movement with a full set of functions: date and day-date, alarm, world time, stopwatch, backlight and a step counter. Together they cover timekeeping across time zones, interval timing and daily activity tracking from a single case.
Bracelet & fit
The resin strap is paired with the resin case. As a one-piece material, it needs no links or end links and is simple to rinse clean after training. The manufacturer's warranty applies: 1-year international Casio warranty.
On the wrist
At 17 mm thick, the case has noticeable wrist presence and is built for active wear rather than under a shirt cuff. The step counter and running distance graph suit runners and gym-goers, while the world time and alarm functions make it a practical everyday and travel companion. It is a sport-led design and not a dress watch.
Water resistance
The watch is water resistant to 200 m. In plain terms, that rating covers swimming, showering and water sports, so rain, splashes and sweat are no concern for the resin case.

Care guide
- Rinse the resin case and strap with fresh water after swimming or sweaty training, then dry with a soft cloth.
- Clean the strap and case with mild soapy water and a soft brush to remove dirt from around the buttons.
- Keep the mineral crystal free of grit and avoid rubbing it against abrasive surfaces.
- Press the case buttons only when the watch is dry, and keep it clear of strong solvents and perfumes that can affect resin.
- Have the watch checked through professional servicing to keep the 200 m water resistance dependable.
